Dating a Girl Who Travels

So, I read so many articles lately about solo travels which seem to have gotten so popular. I started travelling alone a couple of years ago because I felt like I needed to get away from everything and everyone I knew and it turned out to be a great experience that I repeated over the years.

I still remember all the questions people would ask me, like why was I travelling alone, didn't I get bored, what was I doing alone, was I hiding something, what do you eat when you are alone! All questions that I did answer at the time!
I love to travel solo because it helps me to think about my life, to feel completely free for a moment and to not think about all the deadlines and problems. I love it because it is relaxing even though I am always out and about discovering new places when I travel but seeing new places, meeting new people is soothing!

Now, I have read so much about why you shouldn't date a girl who travels, like for example she will never settle down, she will never be happy, she will always want more, she will always want to travel, she will never appreciate what you are giving her, she is selfish, she is independent, she is financially-conscious, she is open-minded, she will always speak her mind.

Some of them are true and some of them are not. It's not true that she will never settle down, she eventually will when she finds the one worth settling down with.
She will be happy, the thing is that she is happy with the little things and she is not materialistic whereas now we live in a society where people seem to be wanting more and only material things seem to make them feel complete and satisfied.

She probably will always want more because this is who she is. Wanting more is not always a bad thing, she will keep discovering new things, new places. She will probably settle down with someone who is as enthusiastic as she is.

Yes, she will always want to travel, whether solo or with a partner. Travelling doesn't necessarily mean going abroad, it means discovering the local things as well. But yes, at times she will want to travel alone and she will do it whether you like it or not. Not because she has something to hide but because it makes her feel alive and she will love you even more when she returns because she always will come back.

She is not selfish, she might see the world and what is surrounding her in a whole different way than you do. This doesn't mean she is a selfish person.
She is independent and likes being independent...she has worked hard for it and has earned it and won't ever let anyone steal that from her. She lives on her own and she surely is financially-conscious which is a huge plus! So if she hangs out with you is because she likes you and not because you can pay for a drink or a meal!

She will speak her mind, never expect her not to. She will tell you when you are wrong or when she doesn't agree. But she will happily agree to disagree on some things. Never force her to agree with you.

So, in the end dating a girl who travels isn't so bad. She has her own values, she will love you forever if you show her love and respect. She will always leave but will always come back to you. You will discover new things with her but never try to stop her otherwise she will run away as fast as she can!

My 2015!

Even this year has come to an end. I made a list of resolutions at the beginning of 2015, let's see how it went!
1. Positive thoughts: Well I should admit I haven't been good at that!
2. Take more photographs: I sure did!
3. Learn a new language: nope!
4. Exercise more and eating healthier: No and yes!
5. Visit new places: yep!
6. Read more: nope!
7. Be my own priority: yes!
8. Don't postpone: getting there!
9. Always smile: working on it!
10. Live: hell yes!
Five out of ten is still okay I guess!

So this is what I did this year:
In January I have been in Umbria, more precisely in Città di castello.

Città di Castello

And then I headed to Florence, one of my favourite places! I have finally been to the Uffizi!

January ended with a beautiful surprise from one of my best friends who was in town just for the day and with him I discovered another place in Milan!
In February, I have been to the mountains and Parma, a lovely city.

Somewhere around Parma

And then, Barcelona... I had already been there once but wanted to visit it again. I loved it but also lost so many things there (phone and wallet with ID and cards!). So I had no money at all, but at least I wasn't on my own!

Barceloneta, where I lost my everything!

On the beach!

In March, I tried to fix all the mess, well at least part of it! I took part in one of the most interesting photography meetup. I learned a lot about astronomical photography and I could see the moon through a telescope and take photos with my camera, it was truly amazing though it was freezing cold. But it was all worth it!

In April, I was super excited because it was full with events! My sister came over for my dad's birthday so we spent most of the time preparing for the big party and took my nephew and niece to some fun fair. I have also been to Bassano del Grappa for work and obviously went to see where to make grappa! Then a quick stop to Verona before heading back to Milan.

In May, I have been to Rome. I love travelling alone because it gives me so much freedom and happiness though it can be lonely at times. But I usually spend most of my time wandering and taking photos and time really flies. I also had an amazing night tour with a friend who was there for the weekend as well.

And I have also been to Cogne in Aosta. The most peaceful place on Earth so far!

And my birthday present to myself was London! Being back in London was super great! I was lucky enough to participate in one of the free walks that the city organizes from time to time. I got to know some hidden areas around St. Paul's. Then I met one of my oldest Flickr friend, after taking some photos and having lunch, we walked to the Shard where we had a drink with London at our feet.

Amazing experience as always. Oh and I got to spend more time with my sister and my lovelies! And I started June there!

Still in June, I went to see OneRepublic, they are truly amazing!

I took part in the Milano Photo Marathon in the pouring rain with some other fellow photographers. It was all worth it!
Thanks to Instagram, I had the chance to go up the Unicredit Tower, it was so nice up there. And I also enjoyed a relaxed day at the Terme di Milano for free of course!

July...actually I think I didn't travel at all. There was an amazing light show on the Duomo of Milano, which I really enjoyed.

The rest of my time was divided between work and home and trying to find a new place for me. And I found it and signed everything at the end of the month. It was both exciting and terrifying but it was something I really had to do for myself.

In August, I could only take a week off so I went to London as always. Then I've been to beautiful Dorset, more precisely to Southbourne for a couple of days.

Being at the beach even if it was cold was really relaxing. I also made it to Durdle Door on the Jurassic Coast, one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen.

There are no words to describe it and the water is crystal clear! The rest of the days were spent in London and I discovered Holland Park, a huge park in the city.

A little gem hidden from all the traffic ad chaos. Before heading back to Milan, I had to see the lavender field in Banstead, Surrey, quite lucky again I would say. You can visit Mayfield Lavender Farm between July and August/September for just £1 or free if you buy something.

And finally in September I moved in my little place, it was exciting and scary at the same time but I like it so far!

Home Sweet Home

In October, I have been to Como to visit a friend and visited some really pretty villas. The rest of my time was spent in Milan, just having some social life!

And one of my little photography achievements, I won third place in one of the contests of the Milano Photo Marathon, I was so shaking!

November has been challenging, the hardest month of all. I learned so much and realised that no matter what happens, everything will be okay. People will always hurt you and lie to you. I realised I don't need people who make me feel like crap and who don't respect me, I'd rather be alone than being with someone who is a cheater or who doesn't appreciate me.

December, the last month of this long year. I went back to Florence for another solo travel - I started this year with Florence and ended it with the same city. I have been up the hills to Piazzale Michelangelo, from where you have an amazing view of the city.

Then I headed to Assisi for some peaceful time. Assisi is really beautiful, it feels like being in another time, everything is simple and pure.

I am not making any public resolutions this year but I do have many! Let's see how next year goes!
Wish you all a Happy New Year full of wonderful surprises!

That complicated thing called LOVE

For some time I had been wondering whether the problem was me and now after many years I realised it wasn't me.
I am a hopeless dreamer so I always look for more. Sometimes it's a good thing and sometimes it isn't. I think we sometimes end up falling in love with the image we have of someone but the truth most of the time is completely different.

When we break up, it feels like our world is falling apart and we will never find someone like him.
But truth is, we always will. We will always find someone better. Because when we break up, we reinvent ourselves, we learn more about ourselves.
Every time sometimes goes wrong, I believe it is for a good reason. If it doesn't last it was because it wasn't meant to be.
So when it happens, you can feel miserable and lost for a day just one day....cry your heart out, listen to break up songs, be in bed all day, eat junk food and write all your emotions down.
But after that, you have to get on with your life!

We reinvent ourselves, we fall in love again every time but not necessarily with someone.
We fall in love with ourselves, we fall in love with all the beautiful things that surround us.
I have learned to love more what I see;
I love the colours of autumn
I love sunsets
I love the cold breeze
I love the sound of rain
I love being in bed on rainy days.

And, sometimes when you least expect it, you will meet someone special, someone who will give you that fluttery feeling in your stomach, also known as butterflies.
You will then start to love again.
Will it be a happy ending? No, it won't. But for that amount of time, whether it is short or long, you will feel loved and it is all that matters!

Let's try something new!

Here I am again after some years, I thought that maybe this was a better way to publish my photos and improving at the same time.
These photos were taken last week in Milan, trying my hands on architectural photography which isn't easy at all.

This would be my favourite photo of the day:

Looking up it felt like being in another world and surely not in Milan.

Another favourite would probably be this one, I couldn't choose between the colour version or the black and white one so I am posting both:

Since I love to add something else in my photos:

My very own interpretation of the fountain in Piazza Gae Aulenti:
My own version of water

Details: It doesn't even look like water to me

Though I was supposed to take photos of the new buildings, I couldn't resist these little flowers:

Enjoy, till next time!

T'was a snowy day

Who doesn't like snowy days?! Snow is like magic, when it falls it feels like everything else stops. It's enchanting in a good way, I can look at it for hours! But mostly I love walking in the snow without an umbrella of course!
After taking a few photos in morning before work, I kept looking out of the window all day long. It felt like being in a snowglobe!

Photos taken in February long snow, see you soon!
